Dawn Allison King

Founder

(She/Her) Dawn is a passionate philanthropist and dedicated mother who has consistently demonstrated her commitment to helping others and instilling the values of generosity and community service in her children. She is well-known for spearheading the Jack's Chattanoggins head-shaving event in Chattanooga, TN, which ran for six years and which featured her son Jack, who at the age of 9 felt compelled to shave his head to help kids with cancer. This event raised significant awareness and funds for local pediatric cancer care.

Dawn's volunteer efforts are extensive, spanning various organizations and causes. She has contributed her time and energy to arts and crafts festivals, the Portland Japanese Garden, Old McDonald's Farm, the Ronald McDonald House, and the Derek Rieth Foundation. Her innate generosity and unwavering compulsion to help others have made a lasting impact on her community.

Recently, Dawn faced a difficult divorce that highlighted the financial insecurity she experienced with her partner. Struggling with a lack of financial independence, she had to borrow money for an attorney's retainer, only to find it depleted quickly. In a moment of deep frustration and despair, while crying on the phone with her sister, Dawn had an epiphany: she needed to start a non-profit to support women in similar situations. Despite living paycheck to paycheck and having credit card debt in collections, she was ineligible for financial assistance from existing programs because she earned "too much money." This experience underscored the urgent need for a new kind of support system for women who, like Dawn, fall through the cracks of traditional aid programs.
